Kitagawa Extends Chuck Range

BB221 Chuck

Workholding and machining equipment specialist, Kitagawa Europe Ltd has extended its range of large through-hole power chucks with the introduction of the three-jaw BB221 at the recent Japanese International Machine Tool Fair (Jimtof) held in Tokyo.

Suitable for components measuring up to 530mm diameter, the new chuck incorporates a 166.5 mm diameter through hole, making it ideal for large diameter bar work, as well as heavy duty turning operations. The BB221 also provides a jaw stroke of 10.6 mm and maximum grip of 210kN, allowing it to be used at speeds of up to 2000 rev/min.

Weighing 228kg, the new chuck has an inertia of 7.71 kg.m2 and operates at a maximum hydraulic pressure of 2.37 MPa.

Kitagawa’s expanded BB Range of large through-hole chucks are available from 6” (BB206) to 21” (BB221) diameter with matching hydraulic cylinders to actuate all models.

Based in Wiltshire, Kitagawa Europe offers one of the most comprehensive ranges of workholding and productivity solutions in the UK. The company draws on more than 60 years chuck development and manufacturing experience – and has established its B200-series units as the world’s most popular power chuck range.
